Screenhouse
The Screenhouse is a reinforced concrete structure that houses major Circulating Water,
Service Water, and Chemical
Treatment System components as::
- Trash racks - to remove brush and large debris that may be taken into the circulating
water system
- Intake traveling screens - to filter out finer debris and materials and return the
material to a collection basket
- Circulating water pumps -
to pump water from the
intake canal (with enough pressure and flow rate) to the condenser then to the
discharge canal or cooling tower intake basin. Motor used for pump being
removed for maintenance.
- Service water pumps - to pump water for cooling the smaller heat exchangers and coolers
in the plant.
- Chemical addition system (e.g. hypobromous or chlorine) - to remove algae from plant
piping systems
